I guess I’ve never really thought about what happiness is supposed to look or feel like. Not that I wasn’t happy before, but there’s a certain sureness that comes with happiness; you don’t need to question it’s existence. 

Right now, I’m settled into a small town in Northern Virginia. I’m working with a service dog organization, training service dogs for wounded warriors. I have two beautiful canine companions, one who I’ve taken in as my own, to love and to hike with. I am unofficially moved in with my wonderful, admirably charming boyfriend, drinking wine and exploring the world- even if that means it’s kept inside the apartment. 

I’m shown and reminded just how lucky I am, and how unexpected all of this was. I’m happy. Truly happy, and that, I’ve never been more sure of.
